A Healthy Conciousness

How we wake up and the rituals we engage to put ourselves in alignment sets the tone for our day.  In Unity we teach consciousness plays a major part in manifesting our dreams and goals and consciousness helps us to see things a little bit differently.

There is a story about a couple who wanted to put in a Japanese Garden in the backyard of their home that they had just purchased.  In the middle of their yard was a dirty, muddy pond, filled with algae.  They had an image in mind of a lovely pool filled with Koi fish but this pond did not look like anything in the magazines they had picked up.

They hired a Japanese garden guy to tell them what they could do. He came out and examined the pond and spoke a lot about the hidden elegance in this whole rotten mess.  Then he said this wasn’t a problem.  It just needed some care and direction.  He told us to skim the leaves, circulate the water down stream and let it fall. Allow the mud to settle and the pond will purify itself.  He actually didn’t do anything that day, except give us the right view of the water and how we can support it.

This reminds us that water, which is foundational to life is not always pretty, but it is always beautiful, depending on how you view it.

Meditation helps us to clear our mind, through skimming away  the leaves, we release old baggage by letting it fall away, allowing the mud to settle and our senses to refresh and renew our awareness of God.

Blessings, Rev Janice
