All power of good comes from within.

As we are approaching the end of April,  we who live in Florida know that a wise person prepares for the power of the winds that may come during hurricane season. Although it is a month away, now is the time to exercise our intelligence and wisdom  to guide us in how to best live on this earth plane of existence.

Every animal knows how to take care of itself as the seasons change.  Birds fly north in the summer and other animals sheds their coats.  It’s a God given innate response that animals and humans release what is no longer needed and to prepare ourselves and our homes for the summer cycle of heat.

In1 Kings 19 we find  a Bible story where Isaiah flees for his life from Jessabelle.  We see that Isaiah listens to the Lord who says, “go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”  Isaiah followed this voice and he experienced a huge wind which broke rocks into pieces, but the Lord was not in the wind;  then came an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and then a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and then came a sound of sheer silence.  When Elijah heard it, he listened and could hear a voice within him.

Power is not about power over someone else or power to magically change what is occurring before us.  Spiritual power is our ability to listen for the inner voice of  intelligence, wisdom and intuition that guides us in what is ours to do in every moment and situation that is before us.

Last week  we started a series on The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.  The first agreement is:  Be impeccable with your word.  This first agreement takes internal power for us to notice what energy/power is building up within us. We get to choose how we want to express this energy/power that is building up.    We want to realize that our word is so powerful that it can change a life for good or destroy the lives of millions of people.

This Sunday we will be looking at the second agreement, which is:  Don’t take anything personally.  With everything that is happening in our world these days, I realize this may seem impossible,  and to the ego it seems as if it is a cop-out from engaging in the world.

Yet the Power within us is a power of transformation.  It is a power that brings inner peace and harmony in the midst of chaos.   Join us Sunday at 10 in our sanctuary or on Facebook live and begin to understand that the moment we take something personally, we have given away our Power to do anything about it.
