Groundhog Day a metaphysical lesson in Let Go, Let God.

Let Go, Let God
Sunday Feb 2 is once again, “Groundhog Day.”  Will Punxsutawney Phill see his shadow?

Groundhog Day with Bill Murray is a great movie to watch this time of year.  Its about a cynical weatherman who comes to report on a local tradition of whether the groundhog will see his shadow.  In Unity, we like to take these messages a little deeper and inquire how does the Let Go, Let God statement refer to Groundhog day?

The fable is whether or not Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow.  If he doesn’t there is an early spring and if he does, there will be six more weeks of winter.  The tradition of watching Phil has been around for centuries in eastern and central Pennsylvania and it became more popular after the movie, Groundhog Day with Bill Murray.

But what meaningful metaphysical message is in this story that we can use?

Have you ever been caught in a repetitive loop, reacting the same way over and over?  Have you caught yourself reacting and then wishing you had responded differently?

Today’s Daily Word is Let Go, Let God.  Could that be the resolution to this repetitive pattern?  To Let Go, Let God is about Trust.  Trust in what, in who? Trust that we are the Universe expressing.  All creatures have an inner guidance system to help them stay safe.  Humankind has a gift of intuition to signal us we are on a path that makes our life meaningful and joyous.  Some call it a right or wrong path, but truly if you are in working and living and playing from a calm and centered awareness then you are experiencing fulfillment in this moment.

When we notice what is called shadows, we don’t need to run and hide like Punxsutawney Phil, but see them as teachers, for the shadows shift as the sun raises higher.

Let your Christ Light of Love shine and then you can appreciate shade is like our needed downtime, a pause to connect to Source, so that our body can rest and our mind is renewed.

As we read in Romans 12:2.  “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
