In Mark 9:24 is the story of Jesus interacting with a father about his son who had been ill from childhood. The child suffered from seizures which had him thrash about. The other disciples were not able to help him and so he said to Jesus “if you are able have pity on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you are able! All things can be done for the one who believes.” The father of the child cried out “i believe, help my unbelief!” We are all that father, that child and yes the Christ of Jesus also.
I was at my physical therapy yesterday and the therapist asked what type of classes do you teach, are they for adults? I answered yes, they are spiritual classes for all who want to discover the Christ light within them. I continued, my next class is a Spiritual Advent Experience.” It is about the two birth stories of Jesus and how they live in us. She responded two birth stories? Yes, I said, many people do not know there are two birth stories recorded. One in Matthew and one in Luke and for centuries people have blended them together. She didn’t say much after that.
It is hard to leave behind ingrained beliefs that these lovely stories are literal accounts of His birth. When the truth is they are poetic and allegorical. These stories point to the spiritual oneness of all life and how Joseph and Mary discovered this along with the supporting cast of characters, the angels, Wiseman and shepherds. when we touch our own our own Christ Light, this unified conscious awareness releases us from the literalism of the world and the energy of healing rushes throughout our being.
Healing is available to all of us who believe and follow the teachings of Jesus. Saint Paul said “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Col 1:27) To live from this awareness is to realize that you and every man, woman and child is essentially a potential Christ, a spiritual being with the seed of God at the core..
How does this change our lives when we accept, acknowledge and act on this Revelation?
It gets us to slow down our mind and nurture and cultivate our spiritual nature. We no longer walk alone in the world, but we have the Presence of Peace with us as we listen to our heart. Our heart recognizes our interconnection. Our heart knows what is for the highest and best for ourselves and our heart is able to see the bigger picture and considers the needs of all creatures, great and small.
The journey from the head to the heart is the Christmas story of us. It has been said: “Though Christ a thousand times in Bethlehem be born, if He is not born in thee, thy soul is all forlorn.”
Join us Wednesdays December 2 through January 6, the Epiphany, and walk this Advent story. Let its message unfold in you. All the characters of the this story are in us. Christmas has the spiritual power to quicken these qualities of Christ in you. During this challenging time make this your best Christmas ever by bringing forth in you the great story of Christmas. The real celebration is always an inner experience of accepting, knowing, nurturing and expressing the Christ Light of Wholeness.
