Memorial Day 2026

This Memorial Day let us remember with reverence all those who served their country so we may live in a free society.

My dad flew a Lancaster bomber in WWII and to see him with his air crew next to his aircraft with my eyes today, he looks so very young.  (Font left) Yet, he was called to be of service and he served with an International crew.

He and my mother met at a dance during the war as he was stationed in Grimsby England.  My dad never spoke very much about his time during the war, only a few antidote’s.  A very sweet ritual they had was, my grandmother would bake a pie for him and he was given one piece before his tour with the promise of the rest of it on his return.  He flew two tours over Germany, which a tour consisted of 12 flight excursions and each time they turned the craft over to another crew, it did not return.

His time in the service shaped his worldview.  He believed in people, and freedom and that the world should be a level playing ground in which to live a full life. He once said nationality nor color matter, if the blood is red, he or she is a Human Being, and that deserves respect.

Let us give thanks for those who served and those who are serving now. May all be safe in God’s Love and may Grace be with each person wearing a Uniform of Freedom.
Remember this Memorial Day we live freely because of all who serve Freedom.
