I love our new doors. They are beautiful, strong and let so much light through. To actually look at this picture, with the Unity wings above the doors symbolize our teachings so well. We cannot grow spiritually unless we become willing to open our minds/hearts, enabling us to see another or higher perspective. We’ve heard the axiom Change your mind, change your life and this is true but just how does one change their mind?
It is through releasing the craving, the trying, the fixing and start to know and SEE who we are. How do we do that? We stop the doing and start Being, embodied, heart centered and heart led. One path is through a daily practice of meditation.
What are the benefits of meditation?
They create in us a spaciousness for surrendering our concepts, for our awareness to deepen, insights to dawn, realization to occur.
The meditation I led last Wednesday seemed to fly by so fast which is a sign the group entered the stillness and became centered in a place of peace.
Our brains are on constantly. Half an hour of guiding the brain into stillness gives our brain an opportunity to rest, reset, or as we read in (Romans 12:2) St. Paul said “Do not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
One of the ideas we contemplated in meditation was to surrender our concepts and enter into the stillness where we notice that currents of energy flow within and around us. This energy is healing, holy and we notice a sense of wholeness surface.
Concepts, belief systems box us in and we cannot see through that lens into the Truth which lies underneath. When our mind is open we become more transparent, like our front doors and we let more light in and through us. This Light brings about True healing for the insight dawns that we are One with the whole Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit lives, moves and breaths all of creation.
We realize there could never be any separation. We understand that the only separation exists in the concepts we hold in our individual mind.
One person at the end of the meditation asked if the purpose of meditation was to make us feel good? I said that may be a byproduct, but the purpose of meditation is to wake us up from our mental concepts and notice, experience and live from our true spiritual nature.
