Peace Be Still
Because of the many storms we have been facing, Harvey, Irma, Jose, Marie and the undeveloped ones yet to come, I invite us to become still and center into the Peace of Being. It is from this centered awareness that when we feel threatened, we can remind ourselves that the Presence of God is all there is. Yes, we say, but but but…. no exceptions, my friends.
Jesus said to us, “Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and in fact will do greater works than these…”
So, does this mean we can pray away the wind and the rain? After all, there are stories in Mark and Luke of Jesus admonishing the wind saying, “Peace, Be Still.” Then the wind ceased and there was dead calm.
What is our energy like as we hear about these storms? Notice your own energy. If it is tense and fearful, remember that all things comes to pass yet remember that God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7) .
We are unique expressions of Spirit, and it is the Spirit within that gives us life and the wisdom of a spiritual warrior. I believe that Spiritual action is called for and prayer is a powerful life-affirming force.
Let us sit in the silence and gather our energies, knowing that we are gathering together the winds of the east. These life currents surround the whole being and bring us into a higher state of consciousness. From this upper room of consciousness, our heart opens and we send forth thoughts of peace, calm, and tranquility to not only meet with the forces of these swirling energies but also to be caught by those who would benefit from some spiritual support.
Hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, natural disasters… they have been around longer than any one civilization but their frequency and severity may be trying to tell us something.
We need to take time for Silence so that we can hear the guidance of Spirit. What can we do to lessen our ecological footprint? Small steps taken by many people are huge. Rather than calling ourselves consumers, maybe take back the mantle of citizens and from a citizenship standpoint we naturally commit to being ecologically conscious, using less paper and plastic – developing more solar wind power.
But what about Right Now with these winds blowing? This Wednesday at 11 am join us for our Meditation session. We will enter into the Silence and touch our interior eastern energies and intentionally send these energies of light, love, peace and calm out to the storm and to those who are facing challenges.
If you cannot join us, take this affirmation into prayer:
“Step into the Silence and send mighty currents of unconditional Love to Marie. See her releasing her winds of fury and returning to the Ocean of Peace.”
On Sept. 24 we will be offering a Unity Basics class at 11:30 covering the basic Unity principles. On Wed. October 4 and 11, I will be offering “Bringing Resilience into Life” at 7 pm.
In Oneness,
Blessings, Rev Janice
