Prayer evolves as we do

I am reminded as a child I prayed to receive certain gifts;  A Chatty Cathy doll , a new bike, a certain purse, shoes, cloths, the list is endless.

Then my prayers turned to situational outcomes, relationships, getting something different than it was. This Sunday we will look at the various kinds of prayers and how our prayer life evolves as we do.

As we sit again waiting and watching now hurricane Milton, our prayers turn to protection, safety and so I love the Prayer for protection.

“The Light of God surrounds us. The love of god enfolds us. The power of God protects us. The Presence of God watches over us. Wherever we are God is, and all is well.”

This lovely prayer we pray each Sunday.  It’s been to the moon and is used by so many.

Prayer is not about supplication but it is about transcending our human limitation.  Prayer aligns us with the Divine Presence within us, and knowing that we are not alone, that this mysterious guiding light sets us free from our human perceptions of fear.

Prayer is never about the words, it is about Realizing my Unity with this mysterious Divine Presence.

Our prayers evolve from the Prayer of Despair to the Prayer of Repair to the Prayer to be Aware.

Let us hold all of us in the Prayer for the Protection, calling on our Divine wisdom and guidance to do what is ours to do as Milton makes landfall.

One with God, I am at peace for I am whole.
Blessings, Rev Janice
