Prayers for Peace

“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
In this tumultuous time in Europe and the repercussions felt throughout the world, take a moment to read Psalm 46 verses 1 – 11. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”… Written also at a time of war it is a reminder that our security is in the awareness of the Presence.   Even though the earth changes, there is a place of peace in us that we can take refuge.  Why? So that we can be still, realize and remember that God is within us and within all of creation.

Psalm 46 was Martin Luther’s favorite Psalm. During the dark and dangerous periods of the Reformation, Luther would sing the 46th Psalm.  It inspired his great hymn “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.”

Psalm  46 invites us to realize that God’s presence and power are with us in all circumstances.

Listen lowly for wisdom that comes to us as we ask “how can we be of support.?” Some ideas would be to give to the World Central Kitchen, which has a 4-star rating , or the Ukraine Save the Children or the Red Cross Ukraine.

Let us hold a vision of peace and harmony throughout the world.
Be Still and Know that I Am,
Rev Janice
