State of Grace
Our planet and all of her inhabitants are struggling with the truth of our interconnection.
As I consider this pandemic and its global repercussions I am reminded of the The Butterfly Effect. This idea claims “a small change can make much bigger changes happen; one small incident can have a big impact on the future… The term butterfly effect comes from an analogy where a butterfly flaps its wings in Chicago and a tornado occurs in Tokyo.
Lets take this theory and use it for the betterment of all life. We must now birth the idea that human beings can and do indeed learn and change their behavior. We instinctively know what is right and we know when we’ve been less than honest with ourselves and others. When we’ve acted less than our best it mostly comes from our personal fears. Physical fears are totally understandable. Its instinctual to want to keep ourselves safe. Psychological fears are another story. they come from our cultural programming. Psychological fears are what makes us not okay inside. This is the Human Predicament.
In Living from a place of Surrender, Michael Singer talks about we cannot have peace in the world when we are not peaceful at home. We cannot give compassion to others when we are not willing to give compassion to ourselves. The war on this pandemic is not outside of us. It’s origin (Alpha) and end (Omega) plays out inside of us.
To live from a State of Grace we want to acknowledge what’s going on inside. We cultivate the skill of compassion for all of us in the midst of this experience and we allow wisdom to surface to guide us forward. We never know what is ours to do when our brain is pulling us in all sorts of directions. Let us remember that we are not the brain, we are the Awareness in which the brain exists. We are the Master of our Universe, which includes our brain, and when we choose to Presence ourselves we enter this state of Grace.
There is only one thing we need to change, and that is to shift our focus from the personal, me and mine. Let us be curious and notice how the “I AM” shows up in every living Other. Only then do we begin to grasp the analogy of where a butterfly flaps its wings in Chicago and a tornado occurs in Tokyo.
Let the Unitive Consciousness live us.
