Scripture shows that Jesus, our way shower, frequently went away to pray, often in a solitary place. In the Bible this is described as “going up on a mountain by Himself to pray.
He went away from the crowds, ‘up on a mountain’ was so he could clear his mind and be with them. Each of us has a need to be still for awhile, for quietness. The reason Jesus, went away is just as true for us; we need time apart so that we can be with life with a clear mind and open heart.
When we choose to live a spiritual life, we are saying we are willing to put Spirit first so we too can express the qualities of Spirt; qualities such as forgiveness, compassion, and understanding.
We are all s/heros on this journey of life, and to be still for a while, is doing the most important thing we could for ourselves and our loved ones. When we take ourselves out of the world, we open ourselves to the most important relationship we could have and that is with the Infinite.
Next week we enter into a week of Thanksgiving with family, friends, lots of activity.
Just as you set about preparing to create a beautiful Thanksgiving with shopping, and making your home welcoming, we also must create in us a clear, open and welcoming consciousness.
Abundant Blessings, Rev Janice
