The Path of Lent

When we walk this path of Lent, we are consciously choosing to clear out and release our mind from the error thoughts that flow through.  The key word here is flow.

Our co-founder Myrtle Fillmore, realized the correlation between the thoughts we hold in our mind and how those thoughts impact our lives and the way we experience our world.  She writes: “No one, not even God, can change you or your circumstances so long as you insist upon looking at and thinking of and worrying about yourself and your problems.  Your problems do not exist, except in your own mind…As soon as you withdraw your thoughts and feelings from the things which you have invited and built up, they will fall flat and dissolve. ”

Jesus practiced non-resistance when he said “”But I tell you don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to  him the other also.”   (Matthew 5:39)

Non-resistance leaves us free of self-condemnation.

We live in the midst of God.  One Spirit, expressing as many forms.  So it helps us to remember that nothing stays the same, everything passes on the horizonal plane.   With that awareness,  realize that  which you condemn and struggle with, hangs out longer in the atmosphere of your mind and thus in your life.
So when you find yourself worried over a situation, shift the focus of your mind off of that issue and onto something that brings you joy.

Blessings,  Rev Janice
