boyUnity’s Five Basic Principles for Children

1. God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.

2. I am naturally good because God’s divinity is in me and in everyone.

3. I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.

4. Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.

5. I do and give my best by living the truth I know. I make a difference.

rosebudCall out the children…
by Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity

Our mission is not to entertain the children, but to call them out. To be always entertained is to be dwarfed and dependent. To be “called out” is to follow the harmonious law of the soul’s unfoldment. Who meddles with the rosebud? What fingers are deft enough to pry open that marvel of folded beauty? We are wise enough to leave it alone to follow the glad law of its own unfolding, but our children! Have we dealt as wisely with these buds of marvelous possibilities? Have we always remembered that they, too, must quicken and unfold through the innate law of their own genius?

More about our program
We have the best of the best of teachers and Unity-based lessons.

Each Sunday at 10 a.m., we gather together for coloring a picture related to the daily lesson. Then the teacher reads the lesson and demonstrates a truth, such as faith, by using a direct reference from our lesson book from Unity Youth Southeast and the book Nurturing Spirituality In Children by Peggy Joy Jenkins. We give the children an affirmation and we sing a Y.O.U. song/prayer. We start a creative project, such as planting seeds in pots or making hanging feathery mandalas with each child’s wish/pet  hand-drawn. We have a small playhouse for the younger children. Some days we watch a lesson on DVD.

We stress the 12 powers, truth sayings, Unity quotes, oneness and Jesus our wayshower through Bible stories. We talk about handling the children’s fears and concerns; we listen. Then we talk about the practical application of Unity principles in their lives.

At the end, we march proudly down the aisle to the front of the church, where the children are blessed. What they love most is joining hands and singing our closing song, Let There Be Peace On Earth.

There is much laughter and many questions. Each week the children go away with some new knowledge and a happy memory of a Unity Sunday.

childrenWe enfold all children in the love of God.
We place all children in the light of God.
We call forth from within them the power of God.
We see the presence of God in each child.
We affirm that all children are under Divine protection of the Holy Spirit
and that all is in Divine Order.

Unity in the Heart of Teens
The International Youth of Unity (YOU) gathered at Unity Village, Missouri in July 2013, and a group made this video, which interpreted Unity’s teachings in a clever, unique way.

New Uniteen Program
A Uniteen group for youth in grades  4 – 9 meets every Sunday during our service and is facilitated by our Unity Men’s Group to model, encourage and instill in young people a sense of self-esteem, self-confidence. Uniteens will be encouraged to develop mindfulness, cultivate kindness and perform community service.
