Truth of Being

Life is consciousness, everywhere present.  It flows into and out from all forms of creation.  Unity is a Divine Idea and it took our co-founder Myrtle Fillmore to catch this idea.  She was at a Methodist picnic watching a caterpillar crawl along a branch, when it flashed upon her that life is everywhere and the only difference between the life in this caterpillar and man is intelligence.

As a child, she saw God, not as vengeful but as Love.

As a young woman Myrtle suffered with tuberculosis and malaria.  The doctors told her she had six months to live. She and her husband Charles went to a lecture by metaphysician E.B Weeks and came away with a life-changing idea:  “I am a child of God, and therefore I do not inherit sickness.”  This idea changed the way she saw herself and saved her life which eventually led her to health and wholeness. For the next two years Myrtle spent hours in prayer and meditation, affirming health for her body. She apologized for having blamed her body for her misery and she praised the life in every cell and organ.   Gradually she recovered and lived into this Truth until she was 86.

Myrtle and Charles Fillmore, became obsessed with an idea that if they committed themselves to the Spirit of God within them, God would do the rest.  They dreamed of a healing ministry that would reach around the world, blessing and inspiring all who would move beyond their human sight and into an insight of knowing themselves as beloved expressions of the One Presence of God.

Unity Principles are truly lifelines for all who want to put into practice these simple yet challenging ideas.  Unity gave the Bible back to me because when viewed through the lens of metaphysics it shows that it is an ancient roadmap to health, wellness and abundance. We’ve been working with Revelation and again this is another Templet to Freedom.  Each church in Revelation is a place in consciousness where we can sometimes get stuck in our humanness

That is not how many in the world see the Bible, and so we are always bombarded with error and ignorance of the Truth of Being. Let us follow the advice of Myrtle and of our way-shower Jesus and enter into the Truth of Being Now.

“Be still. Be still. God in the midst of you is substance. God in the midst of you is love. God in the midst of you is wisdom.  Let not your thoughts be given to lack, but let wisdom fill them with the substance and faith of God.”  (Myrtle
